Bundles

Hi Nina! A bundle is a set of products that belong together — like a starter kit or a "buy these as a package" deal. Bundles let you group several products, give the group a name and picture, and offer a discount.

What this is

A place to build product sets (kits). Each bundle has a title, a picture, a type, a status, an optional discount, and a list of the products inside it. Each product in the bundle can have its own quantity and can be marked as required or optional.

There are two kinds of bundle:

  • Mandatory — the products ship together; the customer must add all the required items.
  • Recommended — a gentle suggestion shown in the cart as an upsell prompt.

How to open it

  1. Sign in to the admin.
  2. In the left-hand menu, click Bundles.
  3. You will see a table with a picture, title, handle, type, status, number of items and discount.
  4. Click any bundle title to open it, or click New bundle (top right) to make one.

What you can do here

Create a new bundle

  1. Click New bundle at the top right.
  2. Type a Title (required).
  3. Type a Handle (required) — a lowercase web-friendly nickname, like starter-package. Spaces turn into hyphens automatically.
  4. Optionally paste a Cover image URL (a picture's web address).
  5. Choose a Type: Recommended (upsell prompt) or Mandatory (ships together).
  6. Choose a Status: Active, Draft or Archived.
  7. Optionally type a Discount % (a number from 0 to 100).
  8. Click Create bundle.
  9. The bundle is saved and opens on its edit page, where you add the products.

Edit a bundle's details

  1. Open the bundle from the list.
  2. In the Metadata box, change the title, handle, type, status, discount, sort order, cover image or description.
  3. Click Save metadata.
  4. A green Saved. message confirms it.

Two separate Save buttons

This screen has two save buttons. Save metadata saves the details at the top. Save items saves the product list at the bottom. Saving one does not save the other — click both if you changed both.

Add products to the bundle

  1. Open the bundle and look at the Items section.
  2. On the right, under Available products, use the Filter by title or handle box to find a product.
  3. Click Add next to a product. It moves into the In bundle list on the left, starting with a quantity of 1 and marked as required.
  4. Click Save items when you are done.

Set how many of each product, and whether it is required

  1. In the In bundle list, each product has a small number box — type the quantity the bundle should include (at least 1).
  2. Each product also has a req tick box. Tick it if the item is required; untick it if the item is optional.
  3. Click Save items.

Change the order of products in the bundle

  1. In the In bundle list, use the up arrow () and down arrow () to move a product.
  2. Click Save items when finished.

Remove a product from the bundle

  1. In the In bundle list, click the × next to the product.
  2. Click Save items.

Delete a whole bundle

  1. Open the bundle.
  2. In the Metadata box, click the red Delete button (top right of that box).
  3. A pop-up asks you to confirm and warns it cannot be undone.
  4. Click OK to delete, or Cancel to keep it.

Every field explained

Field What it means Notes
Title The bundle's display name. Required.
Handle Short lowercase nickname used in the web address (a "slug"). Required. Spaces become hyphens automatically.
Cover image URL Web address of the bundle's picture. Paste a link. No upload button on this screen.
Type Mandatory (ships together) or Recommended (cart upsell prompt). Choose from the dropdown.
Status Active, Draft or Archived. Active is live; Draft and Archived are not shown to shoppers.
Discount % A percentage off, from 0 to 100. Optional. Leave blank for no discount.
Sort order A number that sets the bundle's place in lists. Lower number = appears earlier.
Description (HTML) A longer description of the bundle. Accepts formatting codes (HTML). Plain text is fine too.
Quantity (per item) How many of that product the bundle includes. Must be at least 1.
Required (req) (per item) Whether that item is a must-have in the bundle. Ticked = required, unticked = optional.

Common mistakes

Watch out for these

  • Saving only one half. Remember the two save buttons. Changing products and details means clicking both Save metadata and Save items.
  • Leaving it as Draft by accident. Only Active bundles show to shoppers. If a bundle is not appearing, check its Status.
  • Confusing the two types. Mandatory means the items ship together and required ones must be added. Recommended is just a suggestion in the cart.
  • Quantity below 1. Every item needs a quantity of at least 1.
  • Expecting an upload button for the cover image. Here you paste a picture's web address; there is no file picker.
