Membership tiers¶
Hi Nina! Membership tiers are the partnership levels you can give to your business customers, for example "Gold Partner" or "Platinum".
On this page you create these levels and give each one a name and a colour. Once a level exists, you can assign it to a customer from that customer's own page (in the Partner perks panel).
What tiers do today
Right now a tier is really just a label with a colour. It carries a name, a short description, and a badge colour. Any loyalty perks or discounts tied to these levels are added later by the developers, not on this page.
How to open it¶
- Open the admin website and sign in.
- In the menu on the left, click Membership tiers.
- You will see a table of the levels that already exist.
What you can do here¶
Create a new tier¶
- Look at the New tier box near the bottom of the page.
- In the first field, type a handle - a short lower-case code with no spaces, for example
gold. This is the computer's name for the tier. - In the next field, type the Name people will read, for example
Gold Partner. - Click the colour square to pick a badge colour.
- Click Add tier. The new level appears in the table above.
Handle and name are both required
If you leave either the handle or the name empty, the page shows "Handle and name are required" and will not create the tier.
Edit an existing tier¶
You edit a tier straight in the table. There is no separate save button - each change is saved the moment you make it.
- To change the order, type a number in the Order box. Lower numbers appear first.
- To change the code, type in the Handle box.
- To change the readable name, type in the Name box.
- To add or change a description, type in the Description box.
- To change the colour, click the Badge colour square and pick a new colour.
Delete a tier¶
- Find the tier's row in the table.
- Click Delete at the end of the row.
- A box asks you to confirm. Click OK only if you are sure.
Deleting a tier removes it from customers
Any customer who was on that tier will be un-assigned from it. The customers themselves are not deleted, but they will no longer show that partnership level.
Assign a tier to a customer¶
You do this from the customer, not from this page.
- Open the customer on the Customers page.
- In the Partner perks panel, choose the level from the Membership tier drop-down.
- Click Save perks.
Every field explained¶
| Field | What it means |
|---|---|
| Order | The position in the list. A lower number shows higher up. |
| Handle | A short lower-case code with no spaces (the computer's name for the tier), for example gold. |
| Name | The readable name people see, for example Gold Partner. |
| Description | An optional short note describing the tier. |
| Badge | The colour used for this tier's badge. |
Common mistakes¶
Watch out for these
- Expecting a discount box. There isn't one on this page. A tier is a label with a name and colour. Discounts and perks are wired up separately by the developers.
- Putting spaces or capitals in the handle. Keep it short, lower-case, and without spaces, like
goldorplatinum. - Deleting a tier that customers are still using. Those customers lose the tier. Double-check before you confirm.
- Waiting for a save button when editing. There isn't one in the table. Your typing saves on its own. (Only the New tier box has an Add tier button.)
