Featured products (homepage)

Hi Nina! This page decides which products get pinned to the homepage of the website. Think of it as choosing the star products you want customers to see first.

What this is

A place to pick products and pin them to the homepage, and to set the order they appear in. Pinning a product here puts it in the homepage's featured spot; unpinning removes it.

How to open it

  1. Sign in to the admin.
  2. In the left-hand menu, click Featured (or Featured products).
  3. You will see a Pin a product box at the top and, below it, a table of everything already pinned to the homepage.

What you can do here

Pin a product to the homepage

  1. In the Pin a product box, click the Product search field.
  2. Start typing a product's title, handle or SKU. Type at least two letters.
  3. A list of matching products appears. Products that are already pinned are shown but cannot be picked again.
  4. Click the product you want. It fills the field, showing its picture and name. (Click Change if you picked the wrong one.)
  5. In the Sort box, type a number to control where it sits (see the field table below).
  6. Click Pin.
  7. The product appears in the pinned table below.

Change which product you picked (before pinning)

  1. If you chose the wrong product, click Change next to it.
  2. Search again and pick the right one.

Unpin a product from the homepage

  1. In the pinned table, find the product's row.
  2. Click Unpin on the right of that row.
  3. The product is removed from the homepage straight away.

Change the order of pinned products

  1. The Sort number sets the order.
  2. There is no way to edit the number after pinning, so to reorder a product, Unpin it and Pin it again with the new Sort number.

Every field explained

Field What it means Notes
Product The product you are pinning. Search by title, handle or SKU (type at least two letters). Already-pinned products cannot be picked again.
Sort A number that sets the product's place among the featured products. Lower number = appears earlier.

Common mistakes

Watch out for these

  • Typing too little to search. The search only starts after you type two or more letters.
  • Trying to pin the same product twice. A product already on the homepage shows as pinned and cannot be added again.
  • Wanting to change the Sort number later. You cannot edit it once pinned. Unpin the product and pin it again with the new number.
  • Clicking Pin with nothing chosen. The Pin button only works after you have picked a product.
