Abandoned carts

This screen is about shoppers who filled a basket but left before buying. It shows you how many baskets were left behind, how many of those shoppers later came back and ordered, and how much money that recovered.

The shop can send those shoppers a gentle reminder email with a link back to their basket. This page is where you watch how well that is working.

Two different 'abandoned' screens

Abandoned carts (this page) is for shoppers who never got to the payment step at all. Abandoned checkouts (on the Orders side) is for card shoppers who reached the payment step and then stopped. They are not the same list.

How to open it

  1. Look at the left-hand menu.
  2. Click Abandoned carts.
  3. The page opens on the Open tab by default.

What you can do here

Read the four summary boxes

At the top are four boxes giving you the headline numbers:

  1. Open abandoned - how many baskets are still left behind.
  2. Recovered orders - how many abandoned baskets later turned into a real order.
  3. Conversion rate - the share that came back, worked out as recovered divided by (open plus recovered).
  4. Recovered revenue - the money value of those recovered orders, with how many of them are actually paid noted underneath.

Switch between Open and Recovered

  1. Below the boxes are two tabs.
  2. Open shows baskets that are still abandoned and need attention.
  3. Recovered shows baskets whose shoppers came back and placed an order.
  4. Each tab shows a count in brackets, so you can see the size of each list at a glance.

View still-open abandoned carts

  1. Click the Open tab.
  2. You see one row per abandoned basket.
  3. For registered customers the name is a link to their profile; guests are simply shown as "guest".
  4. The Email sent column tells you whether the reminder email has already gone out.

The list refreshes on its own

A background job re-checks abandoned baskets every 15 minutes, so the list keeps itself up to date. You do not need to refresh anything by hand.

View recovered carts

  1. Click the Recovered tab.
  2. You see baskets that became orders after being flagged as abandoned.
  3. Click an order number to open the full order.
  4. The Recovery time column shows how long the shopper took to come back, for example "3h" or "1d 4h".

How a cart counts as recovered

A basket only counts as recovered if the later order came from that same flagged basket. An unrelated new order from the same person does not count here.

Change the reminder settings

The rule for when a basket counts as abandoned, and the switch that turns the reminder email on or off, are not on this page.

  1. Go to Settings.
  2. Open the Checkout section.
  3. Adjust the threshold and the email toggle there.

Common mistakes

Mixing up abandoned carts and abandoned checkouts

This page (Abandoned carts) is for shoppers who never reached payment. Card shoppers who started paying and stopped are on the Abandoned checkouts screen instead. If you are hunting for a half-finished card order, look there.

Expecting a profile link for every row

Guests are not signed in, so their row shows "guest" with no link. That is normal - there is no account to open.

Wondering why no reminder email was sent

If the Email sent column keeps showing a dash, the reminder email may be switched off, or the basket may not be old enough yet. Check Settings → Checkout for the threshold and the email toggle.

Reading recovered revenue as money in the bank

A recovered order can still be unpaid. The Recovered revenue box shows the value of recovered orders and notes how many are actually paid. Check the Status tag on the Recovered tab to see which ones have really been paid.
