Products¶
This is where you manage everything the shop sells: the product names, their descriptions, photos, prices, and the different sizes or pack options a customer can buy. Each product can also be shown in several languages.
A quick word on two terms
- Product = the item itself, like "Hyalual Xela Rederm". It holds the name, description, and photos.
- Variant = a specific version of that product that a customer actually buys and pays for, like "1 ml" or "6-pack". Each variant has its own price. A product can have one variant or many.
How to open it¶
In the left sidebar menu, click Products. This opens the product list. To open one product, click its name (in blue) in the Title column.
What you can do here¶
See and search the product list¶
The list shows a small photo, the Title, the Brand, the Status (Draft, Active, or Archived), how many Variants it has, and when it was last Updated. It shows 25 products per page; use the numbered buttons at the bottom to move between pages.
- Type into the box labelled Search title, handle, vendor... to find a product by its name, its web address slug, or its brand text.
- Press Search (or the Enter key) to run the search.
- To show only products of one kind, use the drop-down that starts on All statuses and pick Draft, Active, or Archived. The list updates on its own the moment you choose.
Create a new product¶
- Click the blue New product button at the top right of the list.
- Fill in Title (required) and Handle (required — see the table below).
- Choose an Initial status. Leave it on Draft if it is not ready for customers yet.
- Click Create.
- This makes a bare product and opens its full edit screen, where you add the description, brand, photos, prices, and variants.
Tip
Creating a product only makes the shell. Nothing shows in the shop until you add a variant with a price and set the status to Active.
Edit a product¶
- Open the product from the list.
- Change any field on the edit screen (details in the table below).
- Click the blue Save button at the bottom. A green Saved. message confirms it worked.
View the product on the live shop¶
At the top right of the edit screen, click View product. This opens the real shop page for this product in a new browser tab, so you can see what customers see.
Duplicate a product¶
- On the edit screen, click Duplicate (top right).
- The system makes a full copy and opens the copy's edit screen for you.
Tip
Duplicate is handy when a new product is almost identical to an existing one. Rename the copy, change its Handle, and adjust the price before you publish it.
Delete a product¶
- On the edit screen, scroll to the bottom bar and click the red Delete button.
- A confirmation box appears. Click OK to confirm.
- This cannot be undone.
Set the status (publish / hide)¶
In the right-hand Status box on the edit screen, choose:
- Draft (hidden) — not visible to customers.
- Active (live) — visible in the shop.
- Archived — removed from the shop but kept in the system.
Then click Save. The status is only saved when you save.
Choose a brand¶
In the right-hand Brand box, pick the brand from the drop-down, or choose - No brand -. Click Save.
Write the description and tabs¶
The main Description box is a rich text editor (like a mini word processor — you can make text bold, add lists, and so on). It shows at the top of the product page.
Below it, the Tabs section lets you split extra information into labelled sections such as Description, Use, and Ingredients:
- Click Ny flik ("New tab") to add a tab.
- Type the tab's name in Fliknamn (visas för kund) ("Tab name, shown to customer").
- Write the tab's content in its editor.
- Use the up and down arrows to reorder tabs, and the trash-can icon to remove one (it asks you to confirm).
Fill in SEO (how the product looks in Google)¶
In the SEO box, fill in:
- SEO title — the headline shown in search results. If left empty, the product title is used.
- SEO description — the short summary under the headline in search results. Aim for about 150 characters.
SEO means Search Engine Optimisation
It is simply the text that shows when your product appears in a Google search. It does not change what customers see on the shop page itself.
Translate a product into other languages¶
Near the top of the edit screen is a row of language tabs: SV Svenska (marked "source"), plus NB Norsk, DA Dansk, FI Suomi, and EN English. A language showing missing has no translation yet; a small sparkle icon means it was translated automatically.
- Click a language tab, for example EN English.
- The Title, Description, Tabs, and SEO fields now edit that language. The Swedish text appears greyed out as a placeholder so you can see what to translate.
- Type the translation and click Save English (the button names the language).
- Leaving a field empty means the shop falls back to the Swedish text for that field.
Automatic translation
A job runs each night and auto-fills empty translations. As soon as you edit and save a language by hand, that language is locked and the nightly job leaves it alone.
Fix text typed in the wrong language¶
When you are on the SV Svenska (source) tab, each section has a small amber Översätt button ("Translate"). If you accidentally typed English (or any language) into a Swedish field, click it. The system detects the language and rewrites that field into Swedish. It does not save on its own — check the result, then click Save.
Add and manage images¶
The Images section is below the main form.
- Click Upload image and pick a picture file from your computer.
- After it uploads, type a short description of the picture in the Alt text box under it (this helps search engines and visually impaired customers), then click outside the box to save it.
- Use the ← and → buttons to change the order. The first image is the main photo shown in the list and on the shop page.
- Click Remove under an image to delete it.
Add and manage variants (sizes, packs, prices)¶
The Variants section shows a table of every buyable version with its Title, SKU, Price, Compare at, and Available status.
- Click Add variant (or Edit on an existing row) to open the variant box.
- Fill in the fields (see the table below).
- Click Save. To remove a variant, click Delete on its row and confirm.
Prices are typed in kronor, not öre
Type the price the way it appears on the price tag: 890.00 for 890 kr. The system stores it correctly behind the scenes. Do not type 89000.
Every field explained¶
New product form¶
| Field | What to enter | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Title | The product's name as customers see it | Required. Example: Hyalual Xela Rederm 1,8% 1ml |
| Handle | The product's web-address slug | Required. Lowercase, words joined by hyphens, and must be unique (no two products can share one). Example: xela-redem-18 |

Product edit screen — Swedish (source) fields¶
| Field | What to enter | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Title | The product name | Required |
| Handle | The web-address slug | Keep it stable once the product is published; changing it changes the product's web link. Same across all languages |
| Vendor (legacy text) | An older free-text maker/brand field | Prefer the Brand selector instead; leave blank if unsure |
| Description | The main product description | Rich text; shows above the tabs on the shop page. Can be left empty if all information is in the tabs |
| Tabs | Extra sections such as Description, Use, Ingredients | Each tab has a customer-facing name and its own content. Structure is set here in Swedish; other languages auto-fill |
| SEO title | Headline for Google search results | Falls back to the product title if empty |
| SEO description | Summary for Google search results | Aim for about 150 characters |
| Status | Draft (hidden), Active (live), or Archived | Controls whether customers can see the product |
| Brand | The brand this product belongs to | Or choose - No brand - |
Tab editor fields¶
| Field | What to enter | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Fliknamn (visas för kund) | The tab's name, shown to the customer | Example: Ingredienser |
| Stabilt id (slug) | A stable internal id for the tab | Fills in automatically from the name; you rarely need to touch it |
| (content editor) | The text inside the tab | Rich text |
Variant box fields¶
| Field | What to enter | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Title | Name of this version | Required. Example: 6-pack |
| SKU | Your internal stock/article code | Optional |
| Available | Tick if it is in stock and can be bought | Untick to show it as unavailable |
| No shipping | Tick to skip shipping cost for this variant | Use only for digital goods, services, or test items |
| Price | The full price in kronor | Example: 890.00. Stored correctly by the system |
| Currency | SEK, NOK, DKK, EUR, USD, or GBP | Usually SEK |
| Compare-at amount | The old / "before" price | Optional. Shows as a struck-through higher price next to the current one. Leave empty if not on offer |
| Compare-at currency | Currency of the compare-at price | Optional; usually the same as the price currency |
| Selected options | Technical size/colour data | Leave this alone unless you were shown how — see the warning below |
Image fields¶
| Field | What to enter | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Alt text | A short description of the picture | Fills in with the file name; edit it to describe what the photo shows |
Common mistakes¶
Watch out for these
- Forgetting to publish. A product stays hidden while its Status is Draft. Set it to Active (live) and click Save for customers to see it.
- Öre vs kr in prices. Always type the price as it appears on the tag, like 890.00 — never 89000.
- Creating a duplicate product by accident. Before making a "new" product, search the list first. To reuse an existing one, use the Duplicate button rather than building a second, near-identical product.
- Changing the Handle after publishing. The Handle is the product's web address. Changing it on a live product breaks existing links to that page. Set it once and leave it.
- Typing the wrong language into a field. If English (or any non-Swedish text) ends up in a Swedish source field, use the amber Översätt button to fix it, then Save.
- Editing a translation and expecting the nightly job to update it. Once you hand-edit and save a language, that language is locked and will no longer be auto-translated. Empty fields still fall back to Swedish.
- Touching the Selected options box. This box holds technical data in a strict format. A wrong character will silently fail to save. Leave it as it is unless someone has shown you how to use it.
- Adding a product with no variant. A product with no priced variant cannot be bought. Add at least one variant with a price.
